The counselling team are able to offer both confidential face-to-face and Online Counselling to young people aged 13-19 within the Wakefield area. Counselling is about being listened to and accepted as well as being taken seriously. It is also a way to sort out confused feelings and/or situations.
Although we are not a crisis or emergency service we will do our best to signpost young people to other support workers who can help out-of-hours and we will also continue to offer on-going support during this difficult time.
The counsellors will travel to different centres within Wakefield to meet up with young people who can choose a convenient time and place. This might be for a first meeting or an ongoing counselling session. The first meeting is a chance to find out more about counselling and see if it feels ok as well as the best way forward at this time.
Online Counselling:
Not everyone feels able to attend for face-to-face counselling for one reason or another so using a computer to get support from a counsellor might be a good way forward instead. We can offer counselling using emails, Chat (in a private chatroom on a one-to-one basis) or a mixture of both.
It is also possible to move to face to face counselling at a later stage or perhaps ask for support from a Youthworker in the nearest convenient area, either during the counselling or afterwards.
